This winter wedding at Hartsfield Manor was gorgeous, fun and very emotional! Lyssa and Jay were surrounded by their immediate family and friends, creating a beautiful and intimate wedding day for this very much loved couple.
With snow falling on the surrounding hills, this winter wedding at Hartsfield Manor gave the warm and cozy feeling that Lyssa and Jay had wanted for their big day. With the cold wintery conditions outside, guests enjoyed a relaxed, homely vibe throughout until the evening party began. Laughter was in abundance and it was clear how much family means to this lovely couple.
First names: Lyssa and Jay
Ages: 28 and 43
Wedding date: 11th February 2017
Venue: Hartsfield Manor, Surrey
How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We first met when we worked together in Redz Bar at Crawley Town Football Club. Jay was the chef and I worked part time as a waitress whilst also at college. We got to know each other at work and on work nights out and got together a few months later.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
It was New Years Eve 2015/16 and we were at a party in Arundel with our daughter and my Dad and his partner. Our daughter had stayed awake until midnight and we stood on the dance floor and counted down to midnight together, we then watched the fireworks and as I turned round to wish him a Happy New Year, Jay got down on one knee, with our daughter next to him and asked me to marry him. We celebrated the New Year and our engagement for the rest of the night!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We always knew we wanted a small, intimate wedding and so looked at quite a few venues that didn’t suit our small daytime numbers. The moment we walked in to Hartsfield Manor it felt so welcoming and homely and when they showed us their Brockham Room which seats 22 for a wedding breakfast and its real fireplace and beautiful views we knew it was our wedding venue.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
Because we have been together 11 years we knew we wanted to get married on the same day we first got together which happened to be February. So we have tried to keep the winter feel throughout the wedding with silver and navy as our colours and using lots of candles around the venue.
What is your first song and why?
Our first dance is Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran. We both love Ed Sheeran’s music and his album, Mulitply was number 1 when our daughter was born so it had real meaning to us. Jay knew I didn’t want Ed’s most popular song and so he chose Tenerife Sea, the moment he played it to me I knew it was the song for us.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Don’t let planning your wedding make you overly stressed, the day will happen and it will be magical, just enjoy the lead up and of course the day itself. Use contacts and recommendations for your suppliers, its always overwhelming looking through a list of suppliers but going on recommendations helps focus your search.
